To be at the top as an architect, you need dedication, creativity and lots of intelligence. These qualities match Robert Ivy’s characters. He is the only architect who has ever won the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award. The award appreciates Mississippi-connected artists whose efforts have been influential in promotion, performance, and creation of art. Robert joins the league of Morgan Freeman, writer Eudora Welty, Shelby Foote and Walter Anderson.

Robert Ivy has reached the pinnacle of his career. The Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters (MIAL) President Nancy LaForge once said Robert had taken architecture to the next level where architecture material is readily available to the public. The AIA also acknowledged that Robert is a worthy ambassador of the architect profession for the contributions he has offered. His work as the Chief Executive Officer of AIA, as a writer, editor and as a practicing architecture has earned admiration from people of other professions. Ivy shared the stage with Andrew Cary, a stained glass designer. The event took place at Mississippi Institute of Arts, 2nd June.

Robert Ivy was the Vice President and Director of editing at McGraw-Hill Construction media. He served as the editor in chief of Architectural Record. Under the steer of Robert Ivy, the Architectural Record various awards. They won the National Magazine Award. The American Society of Magazine Editors appreciated Architectural Record for their work. He received the Crain Award. This is the most coveted award by the American Business Media. Due to Ivy’s excellence, he was part of the panel that selected architect Frank Gehry who designed the Eisenhower Memorial.

Master Architect is the highest rank in the architect industry. During an event by the national architect fraternity, architects unanimously endorsed Robert to scoop the Master Architect Award. The award placed Robert together with the likes of Dr. Nathan Clifford Ricker, Richard Buckminster Fuller, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Robert has effectiveness in expressing the importance of design. He is the only architect since the turn of the century to have received the Master Architect Award. Only seven people have received the award.

Robert Ivy has a Bachelor’s in arts, English. He later went to study architecture at Tulane University. He did his Master’s and Bachelors from Tulane University. Robert is an inspiration to many. His recognition by the community will propel more people to impact their society positively.
